About Our Pastor Calvin Baker
Pastor Calvin Baker is a native of Miami, Florida and is the youngest of 12 siblings, all of who were raised in the church and possess gifts from singing to playing musical instruments. He has been actively involved in ministry since he was a young boy, playing drums and self-taught organ player; but in December of 1989 he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. His parents, who were both Bishops of “The House of God which is the Church of the Living God,” were very instrumental in instilling spiritual alertness and the importance of having a relationship with God in him at an early age in his childhood. He never forgot how every week his mother would have him stand before her and read, recite and expound on the scriptures. She would also make corrections which aided him in developing a sense of clarity in the Word of God. He is appreciative for the sternness and honesty his parent’s conveyed to him, for it set the course of a destined road he would travel to this present day.
Pastor Baker has had extensive training and experience through the various churches he has faithfully served. He has held various leadership positions throughout his tenure in ministry to include Assistant Pastor, active in the Pastors and Elders Council, Lay Leader over New Converts Classes, Sunday School Superintendent, Minister of Music, and various Church and Jurisdictional Committees. He was also the 1stAdministrative Assistant and the Jurisdictional Secretary in the Church of God in Christ in Hawaii.
Pastor Baker enjoys mentoring and developing men and women of God through preaching and teaching the holy Word of God. He believes in the stability of the saints and is passionate in the delivery of God’s Word. He is a humble, gifted and anointed teacher and spiritual visionary, who continues to seek God for the advancement of the Kingdom of God and always ready to follow God’s will.
Pastor Baker is married to the woman of God he calls his “Sunshine,” Evangelist (Mother) Margarett Baker. For the scripture says “who can find a more virtuous woman?” He found this very scripture in his queen and rightful anointed woman of God within herself.
After coming to the island in 2000, and seven faithful and loyal years of servanthood under the tutelage of their then spiritual father, the late Bishop Paul L. Martin, Pastor and Evangelist Baker were blessed and released to walk into another chapter of their predestined life. With the blessings of the late Bishop and through the obedience of the Holy Spirit, God spoke and said “No looking back.” In late 2007, through the divine providential leading of the Holy Ghost, God birth through them, “El Shaddai.” As husband and wife, they answered the call to be under shepherds in God’s vineyard.

God spoke to Pastor and Evangelist Baker regarding the new birth in their ministry and declared to them that they will no longer be called El-Shaddai, but Bethlehem of El Shaddai. “Bethlehem” meaning “House of Bread” and “El Shaddai” meaning “the Almighty or All-Sufficient God.” So from this day forward, the Lord God said “that the people will eat from the House of Bread of the Almighty/All-Sufficient God.” On September 7, 2017, they officially changed their ministry name from El Shaddai Church of God in Christ to Bethlehem of El Shaddai Ministries.
